Move over, South! Pan-India sensation Rukmini Vasanth, who bowled over audiences as Princess Kanakavathi in the blockbuster Kantara Chapter 1, is officially in talks for a grand entry into Bollywood. The 29-year-old actress has confirmed that offers for Hindi-language films are pouring in and she’s absolutely buzzing with excitement for what comes next!
The Big Confession: “Very, Very Excited” for Hindi Projects
Following her immense success in Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu cinema, the focus has shifted to whether Vasanth will make the ultimate leap to the Hindi film industry. In a chat with Hindustan Times, the star dropped a clear hint about her imminent Bollywood move.
“There are a lot of conversations that have been happening and it’s something that I’m very, very excited about,” Vasanth revealed, confirming that her phenomenal performance in Kantara Chapter 1 has been a massive door-opener.
The ‘Fauji’ Connection to Hindi
Rukmini Vasanth also shared a personal connection to the language, explaining that Hindi has always been a part of her life, thanks to her Army background.
“Hindi is a language that I’ve been familiar with since I was very young, there’s been exposure to Hindi films always,” she explained. “I think maybe it’s due to the Fauji connection because Hindi is always a thread that connects every cantonment to the other. That must be where it originated for me.”
Ready to ‘Stretch that Muscle’
While she has a prior appearance in the Hindi project Upstarts, Vasanth is keen to take on a full-fledged role that allows her to truly perform in the language.
“I am kind of excited to stretch that muscle because I have not really had the opportunity to emote yet in the language. God willing, that will be something I get to embark on very soon,” she added, hinting that an announcement could be just around the corner.
The Powerhouse Lineup Ahead
Even as she eyes Bollywood, Vasanth’s upcoming schedule is packed with some of the biggest films in South India, cementing her position as a sought-after star. Her upcoming lineup is nothing short of a blockbuster, as Rukmini is set to star in the highly anticipated Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, the Telugu film Dragon, and an untitled project with legendary director Mani Ratnam in Tamil.
The actress, who recently turned 29, continues to be lauded for her impressive performances in films like Sapta Saagaradaache Ello, Appudo Ippudo Eppudo, and Madharaasi.
